For this version, the developers at Dekart have included:

+ added support for synchronizing contacts with Yahoo! Contacts
+ CSV files can be imported to Nextel phonebooks as an option
+ user-friendly notifications for cases in which
* the SIM card contains no data
* no readers are found in the system
+ sorting was possible only by name or by phone, now sorting by all columns is supported

Synchronizing with Yahoo! Contacts

This new feature, as in the case of the Google Contacts, will allow you to download and upload contacts from your Yahoo! account to your SIM card.

In order to get this done, click the newly added button in the File menu.

Next, you will be asked to log in to your Yahoo! account, and agree on letting SIM Manager extract the contacts information

Copy the code that you are provided by Yahoo! in the Yahoo! verifier window of SIM Manager 2.

And you are done, now you have all the contact information from your Yahoo account, which you can easily store on your SIM Card.

The inverse operation is performed as easy as the previous mentioned one. In the phonebook, select the contacts you would like to upload to your Yahoo! account, right-click and choose "Send to Yahoo!".

The rest of the steps are analogue to the ones mentioned before.

CSV imported to Nextel

As you may know, the Nextel card have a different construction than the usual SIM or USIM cards, so importing CSV files to Nextel was a bit tricky.
Now the developers at Dekart have added a new feature that eases up the process and renders the import successful. All you need is to check the box next to "Import CSV to Nextel phonebook" in Options / Settings...

Notification boxes

In SIM Manager 2.9 has been added a new feature, that notifies that there is no SIM card reader connected to the PC.

This box will appear in case of a non-PC/SC compliant reader being connected also, as you remember, that SIM Manager works only with PC/SC compliant SIM card readers.
Also, a notification box for the cases where there is no information to be read from the SIM card.

London, UK and Chisinau, Moldova, June 14th, 2010 - Aiko Solutions Ltd, the developer of the mobile encryption and data sanitizing software, and Dekart SRL, the developer of data security and smart card management solutions, today announced plans for a technology partnership that provides cross-platform compatibility of their flagship disk encryption products, SecuBox and Private Disk.

Dekart and Aiko Solutions will work together to achieve the interoperability between Aiko's SecuBox for Windows phones and Windows CE handhelds and Dekart's award-winning Private Disk desktop solution. Both Private Disk and SecuBox are best-in-class applications that score highest for their unique features, functionality, direct competitor comparison, customer support and cost vs. value.

Private Disk is hard disk encryption software with a unique feature set, combining strong, AES 256-bit encryption with the best tools needed to build a protected infrastructure, where information can be processed in a secure way. This disk encryption program allows you to create multiple encrypted disks that contain confidential information. It is the only disk encryption program on the market today that combines the industry's standard NIST-certified encryption with an innovative Disk Firewall mechanism, 64-bit platform compatibility and USB disk portability into a low-cost and easy-to-deploy solution.

SecuBox is an advanced data encryption solution for Windows phones and Windows CE handhelds. It provides transparent on-the-fly encryption of data stored in the phone memory and its media cards. It protects confidential information by storing it in one or more secure areas. Data written to this secure card is automatically encrypted. Sensitive data is absolutely safe even if the device is lost or stolen. SecuBox ensures no data leaks occur on the go, as it will automatically lock data when the user becomes inactive or when the phone goes into "sleep" mode.

Pricing and scheduled releases
The new versions providing interoperability between Private Disk's and SecuBox's image files are both scheduled to make their first appearances in the Q3 of 2010. Registered users of either application will be entitled to a discount on purchase of the solution for another platform.

With SIM Manager 2 you can recover deleted SMS. This guide explains the technical details of the SMS recovery process. The table below summarizes the default settings for various mobile phones and how they affect your chance to undelete texts.

If your phone is not listed, there are some rules of thumb that will be helpful:

if the phone stores the SMS in its own memory, rather than on the SIM, recovering a deleted SMS is not possible;

check your phone's menu, if there is an option to copy the SMS from the phone's memory to the SIM card, then SMS recovery may be possible (provided that it was deleted from the SIM);

if the phone stores the SMS in the SIM by default, recovering a deleted SMS is most likely to be possible, but is not guaranteed.

With SIM Manager 2 you can recover deleted SMS. This guide explains the technical details of the SMS recovery process. The table below summarizes the default settings for various mobile phones and how they affect your chance to undelete texts.

If your phone is not listed, there are some rules of thumb that will be helpful:

if the phone stores the SMS in its own memory, rather than on the SIM, recovering a deleted SMS is not possible;

check your phone's menu, if there is an option to copy the SMS from the phone's memory to the SIM card, then SMS recovery may be possible (provided that it was deleted from the SIM);

if the phone stores the SMS in the SIM by default, recovering a deleted SMS is most likely to be possible, but is not guaranteed.

SIM Manager 2.7

It hasn't been long since SIM Manager 2.6 was released, but there is still more that the Dekart team wants to offer.

This version's most important features are:
+ User friendly approach in cases when the smart card service is not running
+ Better handling of unused records on a SIM card

Also, some small bug fixes were also performed.

So what's so great about this specific version?

The thing that has to be pointed out is the actions that will be taken in case the smart card service is not running. What do I mean? Let me show you.

In certain circumstances it happens so, that the service that manages access to smart cards read by the computer happens to be stopped, or at times even be disabled. In such circumstances, SIM Manager acts as if no readers are installed in the system, thus causing confusion (after all, a reader is connected, why won't the program see it?)

Earlier, if this happened, one was supposed to check if the service is started, and in case not - select the service, and start it manually.

Now, there is no need for that, as SIM Manager automates this process, thus improving usability. The service will be started automatically if you have administrative privileges; and if you don't, an elevation prompt will request them (if you're running Vista or Seven).

But at times, it might happen that the smart card service is disabled, if so, a notification will state what the exact error is:

Another useful feature that was added to SIM Manager is the better handling of unused records. Some mobile phones interpret empty records as used ones, after SIM Manager wrote some data to the SIM. This happens with phones that do not fully comply with the GSM 11.11 specifications. In this version we've found a compromise, such that any phone will be able to correctly handle the free space on the SIM card.

Stay tuned for the next release.
